Improbable: from tragedies to triumphs By: Romel Williams Romel Williams has written about her tumultuous childhood and traumatic experiences in her new autobiography, Improbable: From Tragedies to Triumphs. This is a story of overcoming everything in life that should have stopped her. At a very early age Romel witnessed her stepfather being murdered by her mother. “His body laying across the threshold of my bedroom. Blood bubbling up from his chest as he reached up for me. In that moment I hated her.” When she became a pre-teen/teen she had witnessed and experienced a lot of pain including, abandonment, her mother in prison, and adjusting to many issues. She describes how all of these events caused insecurities that stunted her progress.
Just when she was about to grab hold of one of her greatest achievements, she was brutally raped and left for dead. The years of grief caused her to want to end her own life. She gained a new revelation after her failed suicide attempt. This is a story of courageousness, self-reflection, and healing through therapy and a great support system. It tells of a start that is all too common in poorer communities. A childhood laced with drugs, violence, and alcoholism. She chronicles all of the tragedies on her way to success from childhood to adulthood. Truly a story of tragedies to triumphs.
