Meet Author- Judy Kohl

Picture
Judy Kohl is an author on a mission: She wants to help bring awareness to young children about the importance of healthy eating in a way that is both fun and engaging.

Judy has always had a strong passion for education and working with small children. At the age of 26, she owned and taught at a Montessori-based preschool. Her granddaughter's "selective" eating led her to researching innovative ideas that introduce young children to a variety of foods in a positive and fun manner. She combined her love of animals, being a vegan, and her work as a preschool teacher to create a unique story cookbook that is designed for the young reader.

Her desire is to educate people about veganism with a soft touch. Judy's light, humorous approach keeps kids laughing while they are learning how to prepare meals and develop teamwork skills. The goal behind this book and upcoming books is to actively involve children.

The fun and creative stories behind every simple, healthy vegan recipe teach children about trying new foods, staying healthy, and the importance of exercising.

Judy resides in Basalt, Colorado, with her husband and their three adopted dogs. She enjoys hiking, cross country skiing, long walks, but most of all she loves being a Grandma.

On the Fault

Picture
On The Fault
By Ronald J. Wichers
Illustrations by Victor Guiza

For those who bring war without necessity
From those who forevermore
Bear it.
A necessary war, what would that be? doubtfully one waged by the most powerful nation on earth against one of the tiniest and poorest; and for some ten years.
We Americans are always acutely aware of our own casualty counts. We have not, however, shown the same concern regarding the Vietnamese, both civilian and uniformed, killed or wounded or driven insane, in the conflagration. One million, two, three millions?
The opinions and emotions the war triggered divided the American citizenry as few things have.
But On The Fault was not written to address any of these matters. It is simply an attempt to afford the willing reader an opportunity to feel what those who fought in that war felt, in the simple hope that America’s involvement in Vietnam would be properly remembered, so that a future gang of reckless fools at the top might be deterred from repeating the horror of a war that need not happen.
Even wars waged with the noblest of causes breed a kind of free-floating hatred – the trickle-down poison that can pollute and saturate even the most high-minded of nations. What of one fought without even the slightest justification?
All that killing and mayhem; where does it go?
Whether all-volunteer or conscripted, isn’t it always the little people who carry water for the rich and the powerful? Are you of draft age? Are you registered with Selective Service? Do you have a child or a grandchild of draft age? Do you ever think about the worthiness of our recent wars – these undeclared, unconstitutional military actions? Or do you care? Beware, there could very well be another draft should our adventurism slide completely out of control.

The Spirit Of Truth Is Power: Reviving Faith In Jesus Christ
by Joan Jessalyn Cox

This is a book that explores the truth about the message of Jesus in the Bible, not a sentimental approach to the truth, but one that allows readers to seek the paths of God in honesty and sincerity of heart.

In the author’s words, it is about “Truth that is scripturally verified; Truth that is sound in Holy Spirit revelation; and Truth that should be prayerfully received.” This is an inspirational book that comes across as a gift to be received in faith.

“As I read through these pages, I felt inspired, admonished, and greatly encouraged to continue the path of seeking God’s truth. I didn’t doubt for a moment that Joan Jessalyn Cox has a wonderful gift of faith and that she communicates it with simplicity and authority. Her writing is infused with the knowledge and wisdom of one who has listened attentively to the word of God and who tries to translate it into their life. She makes ample use of scriptural references, helping the reader discover the hidden life that flows through the scriptures, and unveiling truths that readers will love to contemplate, embrace, and use to transform their lives. The writing is friendly, and the core message of the book can’t be mistaken. The Spirit Of Truth Is Power: Reviving Faith In Jesus Christ is a powerful book, a reflection that readers need, especially in this day and age when what arrests our attention most are falsehoods crafted by the media to manipulate readers."

The Spirit Of Truth Is Power: Reviving Faith in Jesus Christ is the book for readers who want to take their spiritual and moral lives seriously, following closely in the path of Jesus and making a difference in their community. The book is well written, and readers will love Joan Jessalyn Cox’s eloquence and wisdom while navigating the beautiful path she creates in her work. A gift to pass on, indeed!

"I imagine this will be an often reread and much highlighted body of texts. Part of the series Foundational Faith in Truth Bible Study Books, The Spirit Of Truth Is Power by Joan Jessalyn Cox ministers to those looking to serve Jesus Christ and be transformed. It provides a great first step to a most enriching relationship as we begin the journey of increased faith in the Foundational Faith In Truth Bible Study Series. "Five Star Review By Romuald Dzemo for Readers' Favorite

Damselfly
By Chandra Prasad
Young Adult

Samantha Mishra opens her eyes and discovers she's alone and injured in the thick of a jungle. She has no idea where she is, or what happened to the plane taking her and the rest of the Drake Rosemont fencing team across the Pacific for a tournament. Once Sam connects with her best friend, Mel, and they find the others, they set up shelter and hope for rescue. But as the days pass, the teens realize they're on their own, stranded on an island with a mysterious presence that taunts and threatens them. Soon Sam and her companions discover they need to survive more than the jungle... they need to survive each other.

Praise for Damselfly

This taut novel, with a setting evocative of Lord of the Flies, is by turns cinematic and intimate, and always thought-provoking.

"Prasad's [YA] debut is a compelling modern-day adventure... An entertaining choice." -- School Library Journal

"Ethics balance on a knife's edge as the characters make difficult choices and adapt to their new reality... A compulsive read." -- Booklist

"Unseen antagonists and unpredictable plot twists... create a layer of mystery that'll have readers invested until the intriguingly inconclusive end... A fast-paced, heart-stopping tale." -- Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books

"Prasad deftly builds on familiar themes while also exploring issues like race, mental health, and the toxicity of teenage queen bees... A fun and compelling novel, one that is sure to attract a wide range of readers." -- School Library Connection

Meet Author- Chandra Prasad

I’m thrilled to introduce my first YA novel, Damselfly, published by Scholastic in 2018. A longtime author, I’ve also written a number of award-winning novels for adults. These include On Borrowed Wings, a historical drama set in early 20th century Yale University; Breathe the Sky, a fictionalized account of Amelia Earhart’s last days; and Death of a Circus, which Booklist calls “Richly textured [and] packed with glamour and grit.”

I’m the originator and editor of, and a contributor to Mixed, an anthology of short stories on the multiracial experience, which was published to international acclaim by W.W. Norton. Today, in our irrefutably diverse country, Mixed is used in many high school and college English classes.

My shorter works, including poems and nonfiction, have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The New York Times Magazine, The Week, the official magazine of The U.S. Department of State, Teen Voices, and numerous literary and arts magazines. I also have a short story in Amy Bloom’s terrific anthology New Haven Noir.

I’m currently working on additional YA novels. I’ve realized that YA is my favorite genre—an appealing cross between the most ambitious children’s fiction and the most absorbing adult lit.
