![]() Look at us! Moving right along! Already in WEEK 2 of the Leading with Love's Kindness Challenge! I would love to know your take-aways, any ah-ha moments or even moments of joy you might not have been expecting. (extra hugs, anyone?) I am always amazed at how adding just a touch more kindness can really change a person's perspective and like I've said before, the happiness YOU feel by giving to OTHERS in unexplainable. You may not even see their reaction, or get a thank you... even if you get a scowl, or a roll of the eyes, you still feel happy. I'm not here to explain all the science behind it (there IS some), I just prefer to believe in the magic of kindness. For this week, I thought we could focus on our Inner Circle. Our family, our friends, those we associate with on a regular basis which might also include: co-workers, the librarian, the postal worker, the garbage guys... Often times, BECAUSE we see them so often, we take them for granted. Not in a mean, or malicious way, of course... but just that they are always.. there. We only realize how much we appreciate our government workers when there's a federal holiday! No mail! No banks! Our trash pick-up is postponed! The library is closed??? I thought we could spend the next seven days honoring... being a little extra kind... to those in our inner circle. And while I'll be giving regular suggestions throughout the week, I encourage you to come up with ways to show those in your inner circle how much you appreciate them, love them and value them. So just a head's up, this week's suggestions may involve some pre-planning and I hope to give you enough of a time-window to prepare for them, but I try to incorporate things the family can do together. You may need few random supplies as well. If your house is anything like mine, you'll likely have them... markers, paper, other little crafty things. But mostly, these are time investments. Game night, anyone? We all have busy lives and we are pulled in so many directions. I know that when my kids were young, I appreciated these kinds of reminders to stop... take a break from the rat race and focus on the family. They, these people sharing space with you... your home, your office, your favorite places... are special. Let's take this next seven days to really pour out some kindness in their direction!! Today's suggestion: HUG your children! Tell them one thing that you love about them! If you don't have kids, how about your spouse? Your parents? You sister? Brother? Best friend? Choose someone and give them a sincere, deep hug... and tell they one thing... or more if you just can't help yourself... that you LOVE about them. Until tomorrow, friends- happy hugging! (P.S. this is practice for a later mini challenge! Get ready!) Have you downloaded your FREE Random Acts of Kindness List? Just click here!
