Kitty says, “Stories of strong women; of people standing up for others inspire me. I find a lot of inspiration in places. I’m lucky that in Britain we have such a wide range of places to visit.
“I read a lot of other genres such as sci-fi and what is known as 'literary fiction'. The last book I read was The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton, and I’m currently reading The Bees by Laline Paull. I’m not sure how many romance writers are influenced by George Orwell, but I am. I like the clarity of his writing. I also like the sensuality of D H Lawrence. And I’ve been reading the Bronte sisters since I was very young so they have been a huge influence.
“I'm currently working on an anthology of short stories, which I’m hoping to put out before Christmas. I’m in the planning stages of a sequel to Mighty Like a Rose, and I have two potential mid-length novels plotted out, one set in the 1970s and one contemporary with a supernatural twist (NOT vampires or shapeshifters!)”
